BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar University's soccer team hosted the Red-White scrimmage Saturday night at the LU Soccer Complex. Divided up into two squads, LU's Red and White teams would each play to a 1-1 draw.

LU Red outshot LU White 17-13 with Arely Alaniz, who scored the lone goal, sharing the shots lead of four alongside Aaliyah Pena while Rafiatu Alhassan had three shots and Erin Dull had two. On LU White, Kamryn Harvey (four) and Ronke Abudu (three) combined for seven shots while Mia Ferrell netted the team's only goal. The goalkeepers of Jaliyah Clark (LU White; eight saves) and Maddie Rich (LU Red; seven saves) finished up with 15 combined saves.

The first half was evenly matched as the two squads combined for 13 shots. Both Clark and Rich collected three saves, but it was Ferrell who struck the first goal for LU White with Abudu picking up the assist in the 42nd minute.

In the second half, LU Red outshot LU White 10-7. While Rich managed four saves, Clark would rack up five saves in the half. However, Alaniz tallied the equalizer in the 84th minute. The game ended up 1-1 despite both teams having chances to win late.

Now, the Cardinals will merge back into one full squad as they get set to open their season this Thursday against #25 Texas A&M. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m from the LU Soccer Complex
