BEAUMONT, Texas - The Southland Conference released its league schedule for the upcoming 2024 soccer season on Monday. With the additions of Stephen F. Austin and UT Rio Grande Valley to the conference, Lamar University's women's soccer team will battle 10 conference foes with five at the LU Soccer Complex.
 
Ironically, LU's conference season opens with the two newest additions as the reigning conference champs travel to Nacogdoches (9/22) to meet the Ladyjacks. Five days later, the Cardinals host the Vaqueros of UTRGV before hosting Nicholls on the 29th.
 
October opens with the Cardinals having just one match at Southeastern Louisiana (10/4). The next weekend sees them return home to take on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (10/11) and McNeese (10/13). A three-match road trip follows with Houston Christian (10/18), Texas A&M-Commerce (10/20) and Northwestern State (10/25). The final regular season home game will happen on the first of November against UIW.
 
The Cardinals are coming off a back-to-back conference championship seasons that saw them go 15-3-3, including a 9-0-1 conference record last year. LU swept its way through the conference tournament to become the first team in SLC history to repeat as conference tournament champions. This would lead to an appearance in the NCAA Championships where they would be matched up against the University of Texas.
