Cardinals Rise and Shine for Early Morning Matchup in Lubbock

BEAUMONT, Texas - After starting Southland Conference play in the win column, Lamar University heads up to Lubbock to meet with Texas Tech Tuesday morning at the United Supermarkets Arena. The game will tip off at 11:30 a.m. and will be streamed live on ESPN+.

LU started the conference season 1-0 with a 69-44 road victory over UT Rio Grande Valley Saturday. This was the eighth consecutive SLC opening win for the Cardinals dating back to 2016-17. It also marked the 15th consecutive road conference win for LU.
 
JD = Southland Conference's Best on Saturday
Jacei Denley recorded a new career high with 20 points to lead the Cardinals in the win over UTRGV. She converted 66.7 percent (8-of-12) from the field, which included a pair of three-pointers. Her previous mark was 19 against Pacific, which she obtained earlier this season. This performance was given recognition from the SLC as the Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
 
R'Mani Giveth and R'Mani Taketh
R'Mani Taylor posted her third 11-point outing for the Cardinals this season against UTRGV. She scored all her points in the first half while shooting 4-of-7 from the field. Taylor is currently third on the team in scoring with 7.3 points per game but leads in both assists (80) and steals (44).
 
All-Time vs. Texas Tech
The Cardinals are 1-12 all-time against the Red Raiders with the lone win being 55-39 decision in the 1973-74 season. This marks the third time in the last four seasons that the Cardinals will have competed against Tech. Last season, the Cardinals fell to the Red Raiders, 61-44.

About the Red Raiders
TTU (10-2) edged out Arkansas 75-72 in a tight game in Fayetteville Sunday afternoon. Bailey Maupin led the way with 25 points while Jasmine Shavers tallied 18. The Red Raiders average 68.9 ppg while allowing 58.9 on defense. TTU is also 4-0 against SLC competition this season having defeated UIW (78-48), Houston Christian (63-40), New Orleans (78-70), and Stephen F. Austin (78-68).

LU's final game of 2024 will be at home against Northern Colorado Saturday at the Neches Federal Credit Union Arena at the Montagne Center Saturday. The game will tip-off at 1 p.m., and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
