BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University volleyball fell to Stephen F. Austin on Tuesday evening, 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-12).
Lamar (10-7, 2-3 SLC) hit 27-17-102 (.098) on the evening with four aces and three blocks.
Maja Malinowska finished with six kills and 13 digs while
Emily Moon and
Lyric Jordan also chipped in six kills each.
SFA (13-5, 5-0 SLC) finished with a hitting percentage of 35.6 percent (45-9-101). They also had eight aces and eight blocks on the evening.
Both teams traded points early in the first set before the Ladyjacks extended a lead to six points. They then stiff armed the Cardinals the rest of the way en route to an early advantage.
The Ladyjacks wasted no time in the second set starting out with an 11-2 run. Seven attacking errors and three service errors would end up costing Big Red in the frame.
After a quick lead for Lamar in the third set, a seven-point run slingshot SFA back in front. The Ladyjacks then took the final points to put the finishing touches on the match.
Lamar hit the road again on Saturday when they face off against Houston Christian at 11 a.m. They then return to McDonald Gym for a pair of matches next week against Southeastern Louisiana (Thursday at 6:30 p.m.) and New Orleans (Oct. 19 at 1 p.m.). Both home games will be streamed on ESPN+.
