BEAUMONT, Texas - The Lamar University women's basketball team will begin the 2024-25 season as one of the top 25 mid-major schools in the country according to CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll. With 79 points, the Cardinals were ranked 24th in the country.
LU finished six points ahead of 25th-ranked Northern Arizona (73) while trailing Southern Indiana (93) by 14 points. The Cardinals are the only Texas school ranked in the top 25 while fellow Southland Conference members Southeastern Louisiana and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi are also receiving votes.
The Cardinals finished 24-7 last season and won the SLC regular season title going 17-1. LU reached the conference title game for the second straight year and took part in the inaugural Women's Basketball Invitational Tournament.
LU will tip off the regular season Texas A&M-San Antonio for its first home game of the season on Nov. 4th at 11:00 a.m.
