BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University volleyball fell to Southeastern Louisiana on Thursday evening, 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-18).
Lamar (10-9, 2-5 SLC) hit 28-13-90 (.167) on the evening with two aces and five blocks.
Lyric Jordan led the Cardinals in kills with seven while
Maja Malinowska chipped in six kills and eight digs.
SLU (16-4, 8-0 SLC) finished with a hitting percentage of 33.3 percent (47-12-105). They also had six aces and four blocks on the evening.
Both teams traded points early in the first set before the Lions extended a lead to seven points. They then stiff armed the Cardinals the rest of the way en route to an early advantage.
Big Red trailed 7-3 quickly in Set 2 but turned around and tied things up at 12 apiece. They would be outscored 12-4 the rest of the way, however, as four service errors came back to bite them.
Each team made a run to start the third set with five straight Cardinal points being countered by a 12-3 run from the Lions. SLU coasted from there behind some key aces down the stretch.
Lamar is back in action at McDonald Gym on Saturday afternoon as they face off against New Orleans at 1 p.m. The match will be streamed on ESPN+.
