BEAUMONT, Texas - The Lamar University soccer team looks to contribute to the homecoming festivities as it will host two Southland Conference matches at the LU Soccer Complex this weekend. Up first will be a Friday showdown with the SLC's only undefeated team in Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, while McNeese will be in town Sunday. Both contests will kick off at 7:00 p.m.

The Cardinals (3-6-3, 1-2-1 SLC) are coming off a 2-1 loss to Southeastern Louisiana. Down by two goals late,
Rafiatu Alhassan broke the shutout with a 78th-minute goal and had two opportunities to equalize. However, the Lions held on in the final 12 minutes to preserve the win.

Friday's match with AMCC will be the 14th meeting between the two programs. LU has a 10-3 record against the Islanders and is riding a nine-match winning streak. The Cardinals have outscored AMCC by a combined total of 24-3 in the last nine games. Last season,
Arely Alaniz assisted on the lone goal that clinched the regular season conference title down in Corpus Christi.

About Texas A&M-Corpus Christi
The Islanders (5-2-4) are currently undefeated at 2-0-1 in conference play following a 2-1 win against Texas A&M-Commerce. Molly Arens and Cilia Leal scored the goals while Zoe Theriot posted five saves in goal. AMCC averages 1.55 goals and 13.1 shots per game and is led by Morgan Westbury with three goals and three assists. Theriot has a conference-best .831 save percentage and is third with a 1.01 GAA.

Sunday's match with McNeese will be the 17th meeting all-time as Big Red possesses a 9-6-1 record against the Cowgirls. Last season, LU swept both meetings as
Trinity Clark netted the winning goal in a 2-1 win on Oct. 8th. Then, Clark and Alaniz helped the Cardinals clinch their second straight SLC tournament title with goals in a 3-1 triumph.

The Cowgirls (3-10-1, 0-4-1 SLC) are still searching for their first conference win after falling 1-0 to UIW. McNeese took 13 shots in the match, with Karlyn Judge shooting three while goalkeeper Jackie Kelly notched five saves. The Cowgirls average 1.07 goals on 7.9 shots per game. Five Cowgirls are tied with two goals each while Morgan Fiedler has a team-high 16 shots with 10 on goal. Kelly leads the entire conference with 83 saves.
