Cardinals Heading North to Stephenville to Meet Tarleton

BEAUMONT, Texas - Determined to snap their two-game winless streak, Lamar University's soccer team will turn their attention to Tarleton State this Sunday for a 1:00 p.m., kickoff. This will be the second year in a row LU will have played the Texans as they will drive up to Stephenville for the meeting.

The Cardinals were outshot 15-4 to South Alabama in a 3-0 loss to the Jaguars. Cariel Ellis took two shots while Hollie Massey and Trinity Clark had the other two. Despite giving up three goals, Nicole Panis recorded five saves in goal.


History vs. Tarleton
Last season's meeting was the first time the two schools met on the same field. LU emerged 5-1 winners as they put up four goals in the first half. Eva Karen netted the first goal in the 10th minute while Ellis recorded LU's fifth goal in the 76th. Ellis also recorded an assist while Hollie Massey had two and Isela Ramirez picked up one. Nicole Panis made three saves for LU.

Meet the Texans 
Tarleton is 2-1-2 after a 2-2 draw against Grambling. Rylee Low and Mild Bettinelli each tallied a goal in the game. It was Low's second goal of the season, which puts her tied for first along with Jenaya Brown. Avery Herr and Adriana Alonso-Gomez each lead with two assists. In goal, Mikayla Kendall has a goals against average of 1.56.

Next Up For LU
LU returns home for their next meeting against Southern University. The match will be Thursday night at 7 p.m.
