BEAUMONT, Texas - In the midst of a three-game winning streak, Lamar University's soccer team will put themselves through one more test before beginning Southland Conference play. This one will be the biggest matchup LU has ever hosted at the LU Soccer Complex as they will face-off with the 17th-ranked Xavier Musketeers
Three Straight Shutouts
LU is coming off their third straight shutout victory as they blanked Louisiana 2-0 in Lafayette on Sunday.
Hollie Massey and
Isela Ramirez scored goals in he win. LU outshot the Ragin Cajun's 16-7 while
Nicole Panis recorded a save. The last time LU had three straight shutout wins was on Sept. 25-Oct. 2nd of 2022.
Is it Hollywood or Hollie Massey?
After seeing her season end after two games last year,
Hollie Massey has been on a tear this season, scoring a goal in each of the last three games. Her play has gotten her SLC Offensive Player of the Week honors this past week. She currently leads LU with six points (three goals), which is currently the second highest point total she had. In 2021, Massey tallied 13 points (four goals, five assists).
National Top 25 Matchups
Because Xavier comes into this game ranked #17 in the nation, it will also mark the highest nationally ranked matchup LU has had on their home field. LU has also faced three top-10 programs before in #6 Texas A&M (17), #7 UCLA (19) and #8 LSU (22), but all meetings came in the NCAA Tournament.

The Musketeers are 6-1 after a 2-0 win against Bellarmine. With 14 goals, XU averages two goals per game. Samantha Wiehe is the team's top scorer with eight points (three goals and two assists) while Kennedy Clark (two goals, two assists) and Shelby Sallee (three goals) each have six points. In goal, Maria Galley has a goals against average of 0.44 while making 25 saves.

Southland Conference play opens on Sunday as Lamar will travel to San Antonio to take on UIW in a battle of Cardinals. The kickoff will start 1:00 p.m.
