BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University has released its start times for the 2023 football season announced Director of Athletics Jeff O'Malley Wednesday morning. The upcoming campaign will mark the first season under new head coach Pete Rossomando in the Golden Triangle.
The 2023 schedule, which is highlighted by six home games including two non-conference contests, will open up Thursday, Aug. 31 at home against 2022 NCAA FCS Playoff participant Idaho. The Cardinals will then hit the road for two weeks (at UL Monroe and South Dakota) before returning home to host Lincoln (Calif.) University on Saturday, Sept. 23
rd. The game against Lincoln will kick off at 6 p.m.
The contest against the Oaklanders will mark the final evening home contest for Lamar, as its remaining four home games (Oct. 7 vs. Northwestern State, Oct. 28 vs. UIW, Nov. 4 vs. Texas A&M-Commerce and Nov. 18 vs. McNeese) will all kick off at 3 p.m.
Big Red will play each of its home contests at Provost Umphrey Stadium, with every contest also being streamed live on ESPN+.
