BEAUMONT, Texas – Alundis Pledge has been named associate athletics director for marketing and creative services announced Lamar University Director of Athletics Jeff O'Malley. Pledge comes to Lamar after spending the previous two years as the assistant AD for marketing and promotions at Northern Kentucky University.
"We're very excited about the addition of Alundis to our staff," said O'Malley. "He brings with him a fresh perspective and a wealth of experience. Alundis will oversee the development, implementation and execution of all marketing and fan engagement plans supporting brand awareness, ticket sales and other initiatives. In addition, he will lead efforts for internal creative services to execute the strategies for the department's social media, digital media and creative video."
During his time at NKU, Pledge oversaw fan engagement and revenue generation, along with student and community engagement for the Norse's 17 NCAA Division I sports. Pledge's efforts helped lead to more than $100,000 in new revenue, while at the same time set single-game ticket sales records. Those records included the highest-attended event in NKU history (men's basketball vs. Cincinnati, 11/2020) and the first student-section sellout.
Prior to his time with NKU, Pledge spent three years working with the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies. During that time, Pledge handled gameday marketing efforts on Beale Street and downtown Memphis, was a key part of the MEM rebrand, oversaw on-court sponsorship presentations as well as helping organize NBA All-Star weekend festivities for the fans. Pledge joined the Grizzlies after spending one year as a marketing assistant at the University of Memphis.
Pledge's career has also included stops at Missouri, Oregon, Texas A&M and Mississippi.
He is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) and the Minority Opportunities Athletics Association. A product of the McLendon Minority Leadership Initiative, Pledge earned his bachelor's degree in general studies from Ole Miss and his master's degree from Texas A&M School of Education and Human Development. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education Administration.
