BEAUMONT, Texas - Riding a two-game winning streak to place themselves in a tie for fourth in the Southland Conference standings, Lamar University's women's basketball team hits the road down to South Texas for a two-game weekend. First up will be the second meeting of Cardinals as LU takes on the University of Incarnate Word at 5:30 p.m., this Thursday night.

Akasha Davis led LU to a win over Northwestern State with her second straight 20 point game. She also grabbed 14 rebounds to complete her seventh career double-double. This past week, Davis converted 65.2% from the field and was a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line. Â

Lamar has had 11 games in which they scored 60 or more points in a single season and have a 10-1 record overall in thos games. LU is undefeated at 4-0 when they score 60-69 and 2-0 in scoring 80+. LU is 5-1 when they score 70-79 with the only loss was to Nicholls.

LU had a hot start to their first quarter with the Demons jumping out to a 21-4 lead. After falling behind 4-2, LU went on a 19-2 run. That quarter saw LU make 10-of-15 from the field for 66.67%.
CARDINALS VS. CARDINALS
In their last meeting, LU used a 51-14 run to go from being down 18-8 in the first to being up 59-32 after the third quarter on their way to a 72-52 win. Davis tallied 26 points coming one point shy of her career high. All-time LU leads 13-2 against UIW.
SCOUTING THE UIW CARDINALS
Coming off a 50-45 win against New Orleans, UIW has won two of their last three games. Myra Bell (13), Jorja Elliott (11), Aliyah Collins (10), combined for 34 points in the win. Nina De Leon Negron leads UIW with 11.1 points per game. Â UIW and LU are currently third and fourth respectively in defense. UIW sits at 58.5 points allowed while LU is at 59.6 points allowed. Â
