LU WBB TAMUCC Practice

WBB CENTRAL: Houston Christian

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas - In a first for the Lamar University women's basketball team this season, the Cardinals will have a home and away against Houston Christian in the same week. LU will host HCU this Thursday night at 5:00 p.m. in the Montagne Center. Then on Saturday, the Cardinals travel to Houston for the rematch at 2:00 p.m.

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERED CARDINALS COMING RIGHT UP
The Cardinals have won six of their last seven games including the previous four to put themselves 14-10 overall and 8-5 in conference play. The four game winning streak is the longest of the season and also matches two previous occasions (19-20, 20-21) in the Aqua Franklin era.

THIS CONFERENCE ISN'T BIG FOR TWO, BUT IT IS BIG FOR FOUR
LU is half a game back of Texas A&M-Commerce (8-4), who have yet to make up a postponed game, for third place. The win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi means LU is one behind the Islanders (9-4) while they trail by two to Southeastern (10-3), who are also in a four-game winning streak.

RED RIGHT 88
In the first quarter of their win over Corpus Christi, the Cardinals made 8-of-9 from the field, which equates to 88.89%. This marks the highest field goal percentage of any quarter this season for LU. The previous mark was 72.6% against UIW on Jan. 21st.

15 x 10 = KASH
Akasha Davis' 20+ point streak came to an end on Saturday, but with 16 points, she is in the midst of a 15-game streak of scoring in double-figures. She also recorded her sixth double-double of the season adding 10 rebounds, which matches last season's double-doubles total. For her performance last week, the native of Dallas earned her second career Southland Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week Honors. Davis is also 25 points away from 700.

CLOSING IN ON 900
Sabria Dean is currently 36 points away from 900 career points. This season, she is averaging 14.3 ppg, which is currently second in the conference stats.

45% IS JUST AS GOOD AS 50%
The Cardinals have played eight games in which they have made 45% or higher from the field. LU is 8-0 this season when that happens. They are 4-0 when they shoot 50%-54.99% from the field.

HISTORY AGAINST THE HUSKIES
The Cardinals are 17-3 all-time against the newly christened Houston Christian Huskies. The Cardinals have won 10 of the last 11 games against HCU, including two years ago. Bebe Galloway scored a game-high 24 points while leading the Cardinals to an 83-54 victory.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
HCU is tied for fifth in the Southland Conference standings at 6-7 after seeing a three-game winning streak end against UIW. They are fifth in fewest points allowed (62.8 ppg) behind LU (60.3 ppg). Among active players who played in 24 games, N'Denasija Collins currently leads the conference in scoring with 14.4 ppg, just one-tenth ahead of Sabria Dean (LU) and Lexi Alexander (Nicholls). Collins has scored in double-figures in the last six games.
