BEAUMONT, Texas.- After earning a third straight victory by knocking off UIW, Lamar University's women's basketball team travels down south to battle with the first place Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders this Saturday. Hoping to keep elevate themselves near the top of the conference, LU's tip-off will be at 1:00 p.m.

THREE-GAME STREAKS
Lamar has won their last three games, which marks the third time this season LU has won three-games in a row. Akasha Davis also has three consecutive games of scoring 20+ points after pouring in 23 against UIW on just 10-of-13 shooting.
R'MANI IS ON #30
R'Mani Taylor posted a season high 13 points all in the second half. She went five-of-eight from the field, including hitting all three of her shots from downtown.
ENDED A GOOSE EGG
LU's 74-67 win Thursday night marked the first time all season LU won a game after trailing by the end of the third quarter. LU was down 57-54 going into the fourth before outscoring UIW 20-10.
LAST TIME AGAINST THE ISLANDERS
LU let an 11-point fourth quarter lead slip away against AMCC, who edged LU 61-59 in the final seconds. Because of this, LU now has a 19-12 advantage over AMCC.
SCOUTING THE ISLANDERS
The Islanders six game skid came to an end with a loss to Southeastern. But, they still have first place of the conference in their possession at 9-2. AMCC is currently second in points allowed with 54.7 per game.
CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN 2
Makinna Serrata and Alecia Westbrook are both averaging over 12 points per game making them eighth and 11th respectively. Westbrook has scored double-figures in 10 of the last 12 games while Serrata is in the midst of a six-game streak and has scored double-digits in nine of the last eleven.
