BEAUMONT, Texas – Eleven of the 12 players who checked into the game scored at least two points and pulled down at least one rebound as Lamar University closed out the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 91-64 victory over Paul Quinn College Saturday evening.
The Cardinals will take a 6-7 (.462) overall record into conference play.
Four Cardinals finished the game in double figures for an offense that shot 47.1 percent (32-of-68) from the field, including eight three-pointers. LU was led by 15 points from both
Terry Anderson and
Adam Hamilton. Anderson finished the night with a double-double pulling down 10 rebounds.
Ja'Sean Jackson came off the bench to score 12 while
Chris Pryor added 10.
Big Red also more than doubled Paul Quinn on the glass, 56-25. Lamar had two players finish the night with double-figure rebounds with sophomore Janko Bulijic's team-high 12 rebounds (Bulijic just missed a double-double with eight points) and Anderson (10). Among Lamar's 56 rebounds 23 came on the offensive glass which led to 28 second-chance points. Big Red also scored 32 points off Paul Quinn's 18 turnovers.
The Tigers were 22-of-55 (.500) from the floor, with the majority of their makes coming from long range (12). Jason Parker led PQC with 20 points while Norris Williams added 16.
The Cardinals return to action Saturday when they open Southland Conference play against Northwestern State. The game against the Demons will tip off at 6 p.m. from the Neches Federal Credit Union Arena at the Montagne Center. It will be broadcast live on Newstalk 560 KLVI and streamed live on ESPN+.
