BEAUMONT, Texas - Looking to bounce back after a tough loss on the road in Lubbock, Lamar University's women's basketball team returns home this Thursday night as they will take on LSU-Alexandria of the NAIA's Red River Conference. The tip-off will take place at 6:00 p.m.

You See, What Happened Was We Got Raided
LU suffered their first loss of the season as they fell 61-44 to Texas Tech in Lubbock. While they started the game with an early 4-2 lead, they couldn't overcome a rough first half and shot 32.6% from the field throughout the contest. On a positive note, Big Red did manage to outscore the Red Raiders 29-27 in the second half and that would include a 19-8 fourth quarter.

SLC Player of the Week
While Sabria Dean finished with eight points in the loss to Texas Tech, she was rewarded earlier in the day by the Southland Conference as the first women's basketball player of the week from the first two games. She averaged 20 points per game last week. This was her first career weekly honor from the SLC andher second career weekly honor overall as she was once named Western Athletic Conference player of the week two years ago.
