Box Score LUBBOCK, Texas - Starting the night at 2-0, Lamar University women's basketball team expected a tough test against the 2-0 Texas Tech Red Raiders on Monday night in Lubbock. They began the game with a 4-2 lead, but a TTU run of 12 straight points would turn the game in the opposite direction for which LU struggled to recover from. A cold first half and costly turnovers gave LU their first loss of the season at 61-44.
R'Mani Taylor led all Cardinal scorers as she put in nine points, including the first basket of the game. Sabria Dean finished with eight for the contest while Jacei Denley tallied seven points. While LU did outscore the Red Raiders 29-27 in the second half, they finished the night shooting 33% from the field while they held TTU to 35%. All the while, their bench outscored TTU's 22-21, but they were outperformed by the Red Raiders in the other offensive categories.
At 2-1, Big Red returns home this Thursday night at the Neches Arena where they will take on LSU-Alexandria for a 6:00 p.m., tipoff.
