BEAUMONT, Texas - After a convincing 17-point win over UT-Arlington to open their season 2-0, Lamar University's women's basketball team is now set for a travel out west to Lubbock to meet the 2-0 Texas Red Raiders. This will be a 6:00 p.m. tipoff on Monday, Nov. 13th, and will be broadcasted on ESPN+.Â
How Long Have We Not Been 2-0?
The Cardinals are 2-0 for the first time since 2018-19. That season, they started the year 3-0 and would win four of their first five games.
Conquering Arlington and the Mavericks
LU defeated the Mavericks of UTA 74-57 on the road. Sabria Dean recorded her second career 30-point game as she led LU with 30 points in a 74-57 victory in Arlington. She had two quarters where she tallied 11 points and would go 9-of-15 from the field and 11-of-13 from the field. While Akasha Davis had 12 points, she was able to get 10 of them in the third quarter, which proved to be huge as LU was outscored 21-14 against UTA in the quarter, but still maintained a double-digit lead. Davis was a perfect six-of-six from the free throw line that quarter.
