NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana – Ten kills from
Wiktoria Warpechowska in her final match as a Cardinal along with ten digs from
Freedom Stephenson were not enough as Lamar fell short on the road against New Orleans, 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-18), Saturday morning to end their season.
Lamar (2-27/2-16 SLC) finished the match 29-9-91 (.213) from the floor, but unfortunately, six reception errors and five ball-handling errors cost the Cardinals dearly.
New Orleans finished the match with an attack rate of 30 percent (42-12-100). The Privateers also recorded six aces which proved crucial.
The Privateers ran out to a quick 11-3 advantage in the first set prompting a Lamar timeout. New Orleans would then keep Big red at arm's length the rest of the way.
The second set started out as a back-and-forth affair as both teams found themselves tied at 10. This was followed, however, by a quick 11-4 run from New Orleans which the Cardinals were unable to overcome.
After the Privateers jumped out early in the third set, the Cardinals pulled the game to back within a point. New Orleans would then go on a 10-3 tear which all but sealed their victory.
