BEAUMONT, Texas - Off to a 2-0 start against Louisiana Southland Conference foes, Lamar University's soccer team (9-2-1/4-0) will face two more this weekend as it will be a home match with Northwestern State on Friday (7:00 PM) and a road match with McNeese on Sunday (1:00 PM). The Cardinals enter this week with an eight-match winning streak.

Last week, Hollie Massey put up a career best six points in two games. Against Nicholls, she recorded five second half points with two goals in a 17 second stretch and one assist on Maddie Janolo's goal leading LU to a 5-1 win. Two days later, she assisted on the game-winning goal to Isela Ramirez against Southeastern. Her performance would garner her second SLC Offensive Player of the Week honors as she previously won this award on Sep. 12. Massey currently leads the conference with 16 points (five goals and six assists).

In LU's 5-1 win over Nicholls, Maddie Janolo and Kolbe Coleman would each score their first career collegiate goals. Janolo found the net in the 55th minute while Coleman scored her first in the 59th. Along with Massey's second goal, the Cardinals scored three times in a five minute window.
History vs. Demons
The Cardinals are 10-5-2 against the Demons after splitting their two matchups with them last year. Both matches were 2-0 road wins as the Cardinals won in Natchitoches with Ellis scoring once and Nicole Panis, Isela Ramirez, and Arely Alaniz assisting in the match. LU has won five of their last seven meetings against NSU.

The Demons are 4-7 overall and 2-2 in conference play. Taylor Spitzer has four goals to lead the Demons on just 25 shots. Former Cardinal Sabrina Lopez is second on the team with two goals and one assist with both her goals being game-winners. Libe Banuelos has recorded 43 saves while allowing 16 goals for a 1.43 GAA. Since 2019, the Demons are 16-3-4 in conference road games and haven't lost more than one in any season.

In 14 meetings, the Cardinals cling to a 7-6-1 advantage over the Cowgirls. LU has owned McNeese in the last 10 meetings going 6-3-1. The two teams played to a 1-1 tie in last season's meeting at home.

At 6-4-2 overall, McNeese is 3-0-1, which is third in the conference behind LU and Texas A&M-Commerce. They are on a three-match winning streaking following a 2-1 win over Houston Christian. Morgan Fiedler is among the top scorers in the conference with five goals while Kaile Kukaua has four goals and two assists. Jackie Kelly (0.88 GAA, 38 saves) and Briana O'Dell (1.25 GAA, 25 saves) have combined for a GAA of 1.00 and 63 saves.
