BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University, in conjunction with Weber State, announced a home-and-home series Wednesday morning. The Cardinals will play Weber State in Beaumont during the 2024 season, and will make a return trip to Odgen, Utah in September 2028.
The 2024 game against Weber State will replace the Cardinals originally scheduled contest against South Dakota, moving the game with the Coyotes to the 2025 season.
Always considered a power in the Big Sky Conference, Weber State has become one of the top teams nationally in the past couple years consistently working their way into the top 10 of the STATS FCS Top 25 poll. The Wildcats advanced to the second round of the NCAA FCS Playoffs last season before bowing out to the No. 4 overall seed and they are currently ranked 13
thin the polls this season.
When the two teams step on the field at Provost Umphrey Stadium next year, it will be a historical moment of sorts as it will serve as the first meeting between the two programs.
