BEAUMONT, Texas - Riding a 14-match unbeaten streak, which includes a win over No. 17 Xavier, Lamar University's soccer team has earned national recognition by Top Drawer Soccer. For the first time in program history, Big Red was ranked in the top 25 on Top Drawer Soccer's national rankings.
The Cardinals were ranked 24th in the nation just ahead of Ivy League's Columbia University. LU is one of two Texas schools ranked along with Texas Tech, who is currently seventh in the nation. The top five in the country are Florida State, UCLA, Memphis, BYU, and Stanford.
LU is 14-2-2 overall and finished the Southland Conference season an undefeated 9-0-1. They finished as the number one seed in the tournament and will be taking on either fourth seed Northwestern State or fifth-seed Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The match will start at 7:00 p.m as the tournament is slated to take place in Corpus Christi.
