BEAUMONT, Texas - Having won their last two games in convincing fashion, Lamar University's women's basketball team will hit the road this Saturday for their first meeting against Northwestern State University this Saturday. The tip-off between the two teams currently tied for fifth at 4-4 apiece in the conference will start at 1:00 p.m.
I LIKE AN ORDER OF REVENGE PLEASE
12 days after losing to Texas A&M-Commerce, the Cardinals got revenge on the Lions with a 66-49 victory at the Montagne Center. LU finished the game shooting 49.1% from the field and 10 three's.
THE GREAT WALL OF LAMAR
LU held the Lions to 31.5% from the field. This included a fourth quarter in which LU conceded only five points and two field goals. The Carrdinals are 4-0 this season when they've allowed fewer than 35% from the field. They are also 7-2 when they allow fewer than 60 points.
THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS
With 16 points against AMC, Sabria Dean has eclipsed the 800-point plateau. She is now 199 points away from 1000 career points. Dean is second in the conference in scoring with 14.8 points per game.
FORECAST PREDICTING THREE'S
LU is tied for first in the conference with 127 threes along with HCU. They also are first in three-point percentage with 36.5% made with Dean leading with 41 threes.
HISTORY VS. THE DEMONS
In what will be the 59th meeting all-time between the two teams, NSU currently holds a 37-21 edge over LU. But LU is in the midst of a four-game winning streak against the Demons, including a 61-58 win in the 2019-20 season. Only Malay McQueen was the only current member to be in that game.
SCOUTING THE DEMONS
Coming off a win over HCU, NSU is currently tied with fifth at 4-4. Averaging 60.6 ppg, which is fifth in the conference, they also concede 65.7 ppg, which is sixth in the conference. Candice Parramore leads NSU with 11.0 ppg, which has her in the top 15 in conference. She averaged 21.5 ppg in her last two games, which included a season-high 24 points against Houston Christian.
