BEAUMONT, Texas - It took a hot stretch for the Lamar University's women's basketball team to break a three-game losing streak with a win over UIW. Now, the Cardinals will look to use that as a confidence booster when they host Texas A&M-Commerce in their third and final game on this home stand. As with most Thursday night contests, the tip-off will be at 5:00 p.m.

WILL THE REAL CARDINALS PLEASE STAND UP?
In the battle of Cardinals, LU came out on top over UIW to win 72-52. This snapped a three-game skid for LU. This means LU is now 13-2 all-time against UIW.

HOT KASH
While defeating UIW 72-52, Akasha Davis recorded a season high 26 points on just 11-of-14 shooting from the field. She recorded 20 points in the
second and third quarters combined. Her 26 points is one point shy of her career high of 27.

FIRE 45-9, 51-14
LU trailed 21-10 with nine minutes to go in the first half. For the next 16 minutes of game time, the Cardinals went on a 45-9 run to lead 55-30. In the
second and third quarters combined, LU outscored UIW 51-14, which included eight threes. LU's defense held UIW to just four points in the third quarter.

DIABLO 72
In the third quarter, LU converted 72.7% from the field by going eight-of-11. This marks the highest total percentage from the field in any quarter for
LU this season.

LAST MEETING AGAINST THE LIONS
12 days ago, LU dropped a 57-52 result to A&M-Commerce in Commerce. Shooting 38.6% from the field, Big Red was led by 18 points from Sabria Dean and 14 points from Davis. AMC is 2-1 all-time against LU.

SCOUTING THE LIONS
Since defeating LU, the Lions came out victorious against New Orleans 74-69 before falling to Southeastern 46-42 to end their undefeated conference record. Currently tied for first in the conference, AMC is 8-11 overall. But they are second in scoring with 65.9 points per game. Desiray Kernal has stepped up for the Lions in the last two games averaging 17 ppg. Scoring 18 points in the loss to SE, she tallied 16 points in the win over UNO.

The Cardinals travel to Natchitoches, La., to meet up with Northwestern State for a 1:00 p.m, tipoff against the Demons.
