BEAUMONT, Texas - Having lost three of their last four and seeking to get back to the top of the Southland Conference standings, Lamar University's women's basketball team will host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi this Thursday night at the Montagne Center. As usual, the tip-off will take place at 5:00 p.m.

DEAN WITH A PAIR OF TWOS
Despite dropping their two games last week, LU was led by Sabria Dean, who averaged 22 points per game. She tallied 26 points against Nicholls and 18 against Texas A&M-Commerce. As of now, she is currently second in the Southland Conference in scoring with 15.4 ppg. She also leads the conference in steals with 38 after recording four in the last game.

THE BENCH IS WARM
Of the eight wins the Cardinals have this season, seven of them have occurred when the Cardinals have more bench points than their opponents. The one exception was against McNeese when LU was outscored 31-25.

HISTORY AGAINST THE ISLANDERS
In game 31 all-time between these two teams, the Cardinals have a 19-11 record all-time against the Islanders. LU defeated the Islanders 68-57 in February of 2021. Dean led the Cardinals with 18 points while Bebe Galloway tallied 10 points.

SCOUTING THE ISLANDERS
The Islanders are 9-7 overall and 4-1 entering Thursday's contest after defeating New Orleans 58-45. They rank as the top defense in the conference allowing a best 55.4 ppg.  Alecia Westbrook, who scored a team-high 21 points against UNO, leads the conference with 162 rebounds, which makes her the only person with double-digit rebounds (10.1) per game.

UP NEXT
Game two of the three game home stretch will pit LU against UIW. This Saturday's contest at the Montagne Center will tip-off at 3:00 p.m.
