BEAUMONT, Texas - Sparked by a comeback victory against previously first place Southeastern Louisiana, Lamar University's women's basketball team will set their sights on hosting Nicholls this Thursday night at the Montagne Center. The ball will be tipped off at 5:00 p.m.

Getting Our Swagger Back
After sustaining a loss to New Orleans, LU traveled to Hammond to meet with the SELA Lions. Trailing 32-25 with 3:34 to go in the third quarter, the Cardinals outscored the Lions 32-15 for the rest of the game to pull of a 57-47 win over the Lions. The Cardinals held the Lions to 10-of-29 (34.4%) from the field in the second half. The 47 points scored by the Lions were only the second fewest points they scored trailing 45 to Alabama.

She's A Dagger McQueen
Malay McQueen tallied a season high 14 points, including four three pointers. With her team up in the fourth quarter, McQueen buried the Lions with two dagger threes that had fortunate bounces off the iron. With 81 three's made all-time, McQueen is currently 15 shy of cracking the top 10 list.

Getting Back to Old Form
Since returning to the lineup against LSU, Akasha Davis has scored in double-figures in five straight games. She recorded 14 points in the game against SE Louisiana. This past week, she made 75% from the field (12-of-16).

Under 60 is Good As Long As You Win
The Cardinals' 57-47 win against SELA was the first win of the season in which LU has scored fewer than 60 points. LU is 1-6 when they score fewer than 60 points, but undefeated when they score higher. This includes 3-0 in the 60-69 range, and 2-0 in both the 70-79 and 80-80 ranges.

History Against the Colonels
In what will be the 45th meeting all-time against Nicholls, the Cardinals are 26-18. But the Colonels won the last meeting 79-77 in overtime on Feb. 10th, 2021.  Since 2017, the Cardinals have won five of their last eight meetings against the Colonels, including a 66-40 win on Jan. 6th of 2021.

Scouting the Colonels
The Colonels are in the midst of a seven-game skid including a 67-58 loss to Northwestern State.  Nicholls is averaging 54.5 points per game  (last in the conference) and allowing 70.5 ppg to opponents (eighth in the conference). Lexi Alexander is sixth in the conference averaging 12.3 ppg. She averaged 13.0 ppg in the past week with 18 and eight points respectively in the last two games.
