BEAUMONT, Texas - Following three straight home victories to open up their 2022 campaign, the Lamar University Cardinals' soccer team will have its first road trip of the season as they travel to Birmingham, Ala., to meet with the Jaguars of South Alabama. Kickoff will begin at 7:00 p.m.
 
Facing an Early Deficit
Ten minutes into the game against Louisiana-Lafayette, Big Red found themselves trailing 1-0. But, with four unanswered goals for the rest of the game, the Cardinals managed to pull out a 4-1 win to go 3-0.
 
Buy Two Kicks, Get Two Goals For Free
Eva Karen recorded her second free kick goal of the season against UL Lafayette. This was her second-straight game in which she scored off a free kick after she scored against Tarleton State in the game prior. Karen matched her season total of goals from last year.
 
Ellis Island
Carriel Ellis has scored a goal in three-straight games to start the season, including her second breakaway goal against ULL last Thursday night. She also recorded an assist to finish with three total points on the night. She currently leads LU with eight points on the season.
 
How Do You Like That? Not Even Halfway Through and Already Making New Season Bests?
Isela Ramirez already has a team-high five assists for the season after her second two-assist night vs. ULL. She has already passed her season total of four from last year.
 
History With The Jaguars
The Cards and Jaguars have each split a match, but are meeting up for the first time since 2008. After losing an 11-1 contest to USA in 2007, the Cards got revenge with a 2-1 victory a year later.
 
Scouting the Jaguars
The Jaguars are currently undefeated at 4-0-2 following a 1-0 win over Southeastern Louisiana. South Alabama has scored 15 goals (2.5 per game) while they've conceded zero goals. Imane Addi (three goals, three assists) and Monique Gray (four goals, one assist) both lead with nine points. Jaidy Gutierrez Campos has a goals against average of 0.33.
