SOCCER CENTRAL: UIW

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas - Continuing their historic start following their 4-0 win over Nicholls State, the Lamar University women's soccer team turn their attention to their next home match this Friday night at the LU Soccer Complex. They will match themselves against UIW in a battle of Cardinals.

An Early Knockout Blow
The Cardinals defeated NICH 4-0 this Sunday to improve to 4-0 in the Southland Conference and 7-0-1 overall. All four goals were scored in the first half from Isela Ramirez (24th), Laura Linares (27th), Carriel Ellis (30th), and Sabrina Lopez (43rd). This marks the second time this season in which LU scored four goals in the first half as they also did so against against Tarleton State in their 5-1 win.

Move Over 2020 Because 2022 is Driving
LU's 7-0-1 start is now the best start all-time in program history. Their previous best was in 2020 (Spring of 2021 due to COVID-19), when they went 7-1 through eight games.

Pitching Shutouts
LU has recorded four shutouts in the last five games. LU has allowed the fewest goals against them all season long in the Southland Conference with three. This is good for a 0.38 goals against average in which the Cardinals are one of two teams with a GAA under 1.00 along with Northwestern State (0.78)

Trains 14 and 19 Have Left The Building
Ellis and Christine Kitaru are tied for first in the Southland Conference with six goals each. Ellis has scored in six of the team's eight games, including the last three games. This was after she started the season with goals in her first three games.

Nine Going For Ten?
LU is in the midst of a nine-game winning streak at home at the LU Soccer Complex. They won their last home game against Texas A&M-Commerce last two Sundays ago.

History With The UIW Cardinals
In eight meetings, LU is unbeaten against UIW with four wins and four draws. LU last traveled to San Antonio to take on UIW on March 7th and pulled out a 2-1 win. LU is on a four-match winning streak against UIW.
