BEAUMONT, Texas - After two dramatic victories in the past week to maintain control of the Southland Conference, the Lamar University women's soccer team will hit the road once again for one Sunday match against Nicholls State. The match will start at 1:00 PM


Cardiac Red Birds
With ten minutes to play and trailing 1-0 in their last game against Texas A&M-Commerce, the Cardinals put together three goals in a six-minute span to beat the Lions. Isela Ramirez, Carriel Ellis, and Christine Kitaru scored in that stretch.

Three's Company
Nicole Panis earned her third SLC Goalkeeper of the Week award after posting two more wins last week. Her last game saw her make five saves and was able to keep LU in the game before the Cardinals won.

Air Carriel
Over the past week, Ellis scored two goals and picked up an assist to help LU go 2-0. Both go the goals were game-winners in the two victories. She also received her first career SLC Offensive Player of the Week award.

14 + 19 = 2?
Ellis and Kitaru were able to pick up assists for each other's goals in the win against AMC.  This was the third time the two were able to connect for goals and assists this season. The first time was against Tarleton State when Ellis fed Kitaru for the second of her three goals.

History With The Colonels
In 14 matches all-time, LU has an 11-2-1 advantage over NICH, including a current six game stretch where they have won five games and drawn once. The last meeting between the two teams saw LU score twice in the first half on their way to a 2-0 win in the spring of 2021. Kitaru netted her second goal of the season then.

Scouting the Colonels
Following a 3-1 loss to the Islanders of TAMU-Corpus Christi, which Shelbi Nickal tallied the lone goal for NICH, the Colonels are 2-7-1 overall and 0-3 in conference play. NICH has scored seven goals all season long to date with Jemma Catherwood putting up a team-high two.
