SOCCER CENTRAL: Texas A&M-Commerce

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas - Maintaining first place in the Southland Conference by beating Northwestern State on the road, Lamar University's women's soccer team returns home to the friendly confides of the LU Soccer Complex. This time, they welcome in Texas A&M-Commerce for a Sunday kickoff at 1:00 PM.

Second Goal Cardinals
It would take two second half goals for LU to beat the Demons of NSU. Carriel Ellis scored her fourth goal of the season in the 67th minute while Abby Gemza netted her first goal of the year in the 86th minute to put the game away. Ellis has scored four goals in the team's six games.

So That's Why She Was Goalkeeper of the Week
Despite making four saves all game long, Nicole Panis made sure the saves mattered in critical situations. One of those saves happened in the 64th minute when the game was scoreless. The other two were in the 75th and 78h minute when LU was leading 1-0. This was the third straight shutout for Panis after posting zeros against South Alabama and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last week.

Eight Is More Than Enough
Entering Sunday's contest, the Cardinals have won their last eight straight games at the LU Soccer Complex. The last time LU lost a game at home was against Stephen F. Austin on September 30th of last year.

History With The Lions
This will be the first time ever the Cardinals will meet the Lions.
