SOCCER CENTRAL: Louisiana-Lafayette

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas - After a dominant 5-1 win against Tarleton State on Sunday, the Cardinals will face another tough test of the season when they battle the Ragin-Cajuns of UL Lafayette for their final game of the current homestand. This Thursday night's contest will begin at 7:00 PM at the LU Soccer Complex.

Four For 45
LU defeated the Texans 5-1 on Sunday. The biggest factor was their four goal outburst in the first half. Eva Karen tallied the first goal while Christine Kitaru netted three. In the second half, Cariel Ellis scored her second of the season. Ellis also recorded an assist along with Isela Ramirez and Hollie Massey, who put together two.

Seven Minutes of Kitaru
Kitaru received her second straight Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week honor as she recorded her flawless hat trick within a span of seven minutes of the first half. She tallied goals in the 17th, 22nd, and 24th minutes for her first career hat-trick. Already with five goals, this matches her 2020 season total and she is one goal shy of six from last year.

Stopping A Charge
Entering Sunday's matchup, the Texans were averaging 14.3 shots per game, including a 21-shot performance against their previous opponent. But LU's defense held them to just one goal on five shots.

History With The Ragin Cajuns
ULL has won four of the six meetings all-time between these two teams. But the Cardinals won the last two meetings including a 5-1 win in 2019. Meg Sheppard scored a goal for the Cardinals in 87th minute.

Scouting the Ragin Cajuns
The Ragin Cajuns are 1-0-2 this season after an opening day win against Florida International and two draws against Stephen F. Austin and Louisiana Tech. Hailey Waterhouse currently leads the team with two goals on 11 shots while Libby Harper has a 1.00 goals against average.

Up Next
The Cardinals will make their first road trip of the season to Mobile, Ala. on Thursday, September 8th for a 7:00 PM kickoff with South Alabama.
