Three Cheers For Nathan Kogut
The Cardinals blanked UH by the score of 3-0 earning Nathan Kogut's his first win as head coach of LU. Christine Kitaru scored two goals while Caries Ellis added the third. Nicole Panis recorded nine saves in goal on 12 shots.
Three Queens Of The Week
The Southland Conference recognized Kitaru (Offensive), Panis (Goalkeeper), and Miranda Urbizu (Defensive) with player of the week honors. These are the second career weekly honors and first from the SLC for Kitaru and Panis and as they both won weekly awards last season as members of the Western Athletic Conference. It also is the first career weekly honor from the SLC for Urbizu.
Opening Day Wins Are Nice
Aside from the 3-0 win against Houston being head coach Nathan Kogut's first win as LU's head coach, this was also the third straight season in which the Cardinals won their first game of the year. Last season, LU defeated Grambling State 3-1. Two years ago, Big Red captured a 1-0 victory against Texas State.

This will be the first match all-time between the Cardinals and Texans.
Scouting the Texans
The Texans enter this contest 2-0-1 after coming off a 6-0 shutout win against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Six different Texans scored while the defense held APB to just six shots and three on goal. Adriana Alonso-Gomez leads TSU with two goals while Kiki Baurman has a team-high five points.

The Cardinals will conclude three-game home stretch with a match against Louisiana. The kickoff will be on Thursday, September 1st at 7:00 PM.
