BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University softball dropped a 10-1 decision to Stephen F. Ausitn Saturday afternoon at the LU Softball Complex.
Sophomore infielder Sam Bean extended her streak to 16 conference games in which she reached base. She did so with a single to lead off the bottom of the first inning.
The Cardinals scored their lone run in the fourth inning when freshman pinch-hitter Sydney Norton brought home junior designated player Hannah Kinkade on an RBI groundout to second base.
Sophomore infielder Brooke Davis, junior infielder Nicolette Ramirez and junior catcher Felixia Hinojosa also produced hits.
LU now turns its attention to the upcoming rivalry series against McNeese State. The Cardinals will host game one before making the hour-long drive across the Sabine River for a Saturday doubleheader. First pitch Friday is set for 5 p.m. at the LU Softball Complex.
