Akasha Davis remains a consistent contender for the Western Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year for her play this season. This past week, despite having one game, Davis was able to secure her fifth WAC Freshman of the Week award.
Against the Vaqueros of UT Rio Grande Valley, Davis finished with 23 points on just 10-of-13 shooting from the field. This was her fifth 20+ point performance of the season. She also finished with seven rebounds and a steal as she helped the Cardinals to a 53-39 win.
Already leading her team in scoring (13.6 points per game) and rebounding (6.9 per game), Davis is second in the WAC by making 59.2% from the field. This week, Davis and the Cardinals continue their home stretch by welcoming California Baptist to the Montagne Center this Thursday at 7:00 PM.
