Daniel Sancho Arbizu has been named WAC Tennis Player of the Week announced league officials Wednesday morning. Sancho Arbizu received the honor for his part in helping the Cardinals pick up non-conference wins at Southern Mississippi and UAB.
It marks the third time this season he has been named either WAC singles or doubles player of the week.
The Cardinals (7-3) won both of their matches last week extending their win streak to six straight. The victory over Southern Miss was just the team's second in the previous seven meetings.
Sancho Arbizu played the No. 1 singles position for both matches going 2-0, including an impressive three-set victory against UAB. Sancho Arbizu's victories served as the clinchers in both matches. The Zaragoza, Spain native is 5-3 in singles play this season, with all eight of his matches coming at the No. 1 position.
The Cardinals return to action Thursday when they travel to San Antonio, Texas to take on UIW. The match against the other Cardinals will begin at 11 a.m.
