BEAUMONT, Texas – Due to delays brought on by the COVID pandemic, Lamar University is preparing to induct a second Hall of Honor class this academic year. LU will be recognizing the 2021 Hall of Honor Class at a ceremony Saturday morning in McDonald Gym. The event is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
 
Due to the pandemic forcing the university to push back the 2020 class until the Fall 2021 semester, the university elected to do two classes during the 2021-22 academic year to not fall behind on the Hall of Honor process.
 
Limited seating is still available for the induction ceremony. Tickets are $35 and can be ordered through the LU Ticket Office by calling (409) 880-1715, or by clicking HERE. 
 
The incoming 2021 class consists of four former student-athletes and a former head coach. It also covers four decades of Lamar University athletics and three different sports.
 
The newest members to the Hall of Honor include Jesse Dickson (football, 2010-13), Kade Harrington (football, 2013-16), Kurt Phoenix (football, 1976-79 and track & field, 1980-81), Sandra Thomas (women's basketball, 1974-78) and Larry Tidwell (women's basketball coach, 2007-13).
