BEAUMONT, Texas - As December begins for the 2022-23 Lamar University women's basketball team, they will look to continue a tough non-conference in hopes to prepare for the conference season. This Saturday, LU will meet up with a long-time foe after a 10-year absence for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off.

Split in Mississippi
Over the past week, LU traveled to Hattiesburg to partake in Southern Mississippi's Lady Eagle Thanksgiving Classic. The Cardinals defeated Mississippi Valley State 85-49 before falling to USM 56-48.

Portia's Portions
Portia Adams would be named as part of the Lady Eagle Classic's All-Tournament team after averaging 13.5 ppg in the two-game tournament. She scored 15 points against MVSU and 12 against USM.

A Royal 17 For London
Emma Imevbore, who hails from London, made her first start against the Devil Devilettes of MVSU and finished with a team-high 17 points and grabbing 11 rebounds for a double-double. This was her first career double-double.

History Against The Mavericks
LU is 18-23 all-time against UTA. Although this will mark the first meeting between the two-schools since 2012, the Cardinals are on a five-game winning streak against the Mavs.

Scouting the Mavericks
Edging out the Houston Cougars 67-64 in their last game, UTA is currently 4-4 for the season. The Mavericks are currently scoring 75.3 points per game and have three players scoring in double figures: Starr Jacobs (15.1 ppg), Jireh Washington (14.3 ppg), and Kayla White (14.1 ppg). All three would combine for 40 of the team's 67 points in the win over UH.
