BEAUMONT, Texas - While most of the nation will be sitting down at their kitchen tables enjoying their traditional Thanksgiving feast, Lamar University's women's basketball team will be traveling to Hattiesburg, Miss., looking to feast out two more wins this weekend. They will partake in the Lady Eagle Thanksgiving Classic hosted by Southern Mississippi. LU will have two games against Mississippi Valley State on Friday and the host school on Saturday with both start times at 5:00 p.m.
Working Overtime
Lamar edged out Prairie View A&M in a thrilling overtime game. After a slow start by trailing 18-9 in the first quarter, LU rallied back to take the game 66-63 over the Panthers marking their fifth win in six games.
Double Trouble
Emma Imevbore and
Malay McQueen each contributed double-doubles in the win. Imevbore scored 15 points and grabbed 15 rebounds while she netted the game-winning lay-up on an assist from McQueen, who finished with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
25 Again
For the second game in a row,
Sabria Dean tallied 25 points. She currently leads LU with 18.7 ppg, after three games. This is the highest average Dean has had through the first three games, which bests last season (16.3 ppg).
History Against The Delta Devilettes
In their only meeting against the Delta Devils back in the 2008-09 season, the Cardinals came out with a 72-47 win.
History Against The Golden Eagles
LU is currently 0-3 all-time against USM. Their last meeting was a 75-60 loss in Hattiesburg, Miss.
