BEAUMONT, Texas - After opening their season on the road in Waco, Lamar University's women's basketball team gets set to make their home opener at the Montagne Center as they will play Jarvis Christian College at 7:00 p.m. this Friday night. LU will look to even their record overall after an opening game loss.
Opening Night in Waco
Although LU took an early 8-7 lead, they would ultimately fall 88-50 to Baylor. For the night, the Cardinals shot 36.0% from the field and 25.0% from the three-point line.
Kashed In
Despite the loss,
Akasha Davis managed to score 13 points and came within two rebounds of collecting a double-double against Baylor. She would go five-of-eight from the field.
Solid Debut
In her first game as a Cardinal,
Anaya Bernard would pick up 10 points, including a pair of three's. She also managed to grab four rebounds.
Bo Knows Montagne Open Homers
The Cardinals are 38-13 all-time in home openers at the Montagne Center since it opened back in 1984. This includes a 107-37 win against Howard Payne last season.
History With The Bulldogs
While LU faced Jarvis Christian in an exhibition last year, all-time the Cardinals have beaten the Bulldogs once in their only meeting back in 1971. LU won 62-30.
Scouting The Bulldogs
Averaging 81.3 points per game, the Bulldogs are 3-1 after a 95-59 victory over Dallas Christian College. With a team-high 22 points in the game, Faith Robinson leads the team with 18.3 ppg. Micah McCrea also averages double-figures with 12.8 ppg.
