SOCCER CENTRAL: Nicholls

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas - With a regular season title and top seed in the Southland Conference tournament clinched, LU will have a coronation this Friday night as they will play in their final home game of the season at the LU Soccer Complex. While the game will kickoff at 7:00 PM, the Cardinals will also honor seven seniors from this year's squad for senior day.

A Great Day For Clinching
LU had a thrilling 2-1 win against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to claim the SLC regular season title as they were only five points entering Sunday. The Cardinals' first goal was actually an own goal scored by the Islanders. With the score tied at one and the game entering it's final minute, Arely Alaniz fired from 30 yards out to score the game-winner.

This marks the third time in program history that LU has won the regular season title in their tenure in the SLC as the previous two meetings have been in 2017 and 2019. In both those years, the Cardinals have gone on to win the conference tournament and reach the NCAA.

The Magnificent Seven
Friday night will also be senior night for seven of LU's players for their contributions to this program. LU will be honoring Abby Gemza, Kaisa Juvonen, Laura Linares, Paloma Martinez, Nicole Panis, Meg Sheppard, and Miranda Urbizu.

History With The Colonels
LU needed four first half goals to shutout the Colonels in their last meeting. Isela Ramirez, Linares, Cariel Ellis, and Sabrina Lopez would all score goals whole Annika Kassenbrock, Eva Karen, and Trinity Clark each recorded an assist. The win means LU is 12-2-1 all-time against NICH. The last time LU lost to NICH was back in 2014. The one draw came in 2016.

Scouting the Colonels
The Colonels are 2-15-1 overall, but have yet to win a conference game in 11 tries. While NICH hasn't scored a goal in five of their last six games, Jemma Catherwood is the lone Colonel to have multiple goals (two) this season.

Up Next
It's off to the conference tournament for the Cardinals, which will be hosted by Northwestern State University. The tournament will start Nov. 2nd and will run to Nov. 6th.
