SOCCER CENTRAL: Texas A&M-Commerce

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas - Following a difficult weekend, which included a tough 1-1 draw against McNeese, Lamar's soccer team will look to put more distance between them and the rest of the Southland Conference opponents with a showdown against Texas A&M-Commerce on the road this week. The kickoff will be this Friday night at 7:00 PM in Commerce.

19 x 9 =???
Christine Kitaru continues to add to her dominant season as she scored her ninth goal on the season against McNeese. Already with a season-high in goals, Kitaru is tied for first in the conference along with Olivia Draguicevich of Northwestern State. All-time at LU, Kitaru is tied for fourth with 20 career goals along with Kristin Bos (2011-14) and eighth in points with 47.

Southland Update
LU remains on top of the conference standings with 19 points, which is five points ahead of NSU. Corpus Christi and Commerce each tied their last match, which puts them six points behind LU.

Nicole Panis Win Watchlist
Panis remains tied all-time in the wins leaderboard with 26 alongside Lauren Lovejoy (2014-2017). One more win would move her past Lovejoy for most in program history. This would also be a new season high for Panis as she is tied for nine, which was how many games she won last season. She is also fourth all-time in saves with 243.

History vs. the Lions
The Cardinals won their first all-time match against the Lions 3-1 on Sept. 18th of this year when they rallied back from 1-0 down in the 80th minute to scoring three goals thanks to Kitaru, Isela Ramirez, and Cariel Ellis. Panis made five saves in goal for LU.

Scouting the Lions
Tied for third with Corpus Christi at 4-2-1 in the conference to go with a 7-4-1 record, the Lions played to a scoreless draw against Southeastern Louisiana. Mya Mitchell leads the team and is tied for third in the SLC with seven goals.

Up Next
LU will travel to Houston to meet up with Houston Christian for a Friday night showdown at 7:00 p.m., on Oct. 21st.
