BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University has hit the midway point of a grueling early-season part of the schedule that has them away from Beaumont for seven of eight games. Fortunately, the midway point means a return home for the Red and White.
The Cardinals' matchup against Alcorn State will be the third all-time meeting between the two programs, and the first since 2015. The only other meeting in the series came in 2012. The Cardinals are 2-0 all-time against Alcorn posting an 8-0 victory in the first meeting and a 13-0 decision in the second.
With the game scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff at the LU Soccer Complex, the Cardinals will also have to battle the elements facing heat and humidity of Southeast Texas. The Alcorn State Lady Braves come into the game with a regular season record of 1-1, with one a blowout loss and one a blowout win by the exact same score. The Lady Braves defeated Talladega, 11-0, only to return to the pitch and fall to former Southland Conference opponent, Southeastern Louisiana, 11-0.
Big Red then returns to the road, travelling up to San Antonio for a match against UTSA, which is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff Friday, Sept. 10
th at the Park West Athletics Complex.
