Cardinals Fall in Three at UL Lafayette

Box Score LAFAYETTE, La. – Lamar University lost to UL Lafayette, 3-0, Tuesday night in Lafayette, La. The match saw the Cardinals put up a strong fight in the first two sets losing by only two, 25-23, before the Ragin' Cajuns took control in the third, 25-7. 
 
The Cardinals were led by Kaitlyn Gil's 10 kills, and seven from Malaysia Murdock on 22 swings (.273). Sophomore Amber Johnson and freshman Emily Surin each added six kills. Unfortunately, the Cardinals hit just .180 for the match, which was the opposite end of the spectrum from how LU started the match (15-3-38/.316 in set one).
 
The Ragin' Cajuns finished the night hitting .279, led by a .407 performance in the final set. ULL had two players finish the match in double figures (Coco Gillett – 14 kills and Kelsey Bennett – 10).
 
The Cardinals will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 2, when they host UT Rio Grande Valley. The match will begin at 2 p.m. from McDonald Gym.
