Cards Open Three-Game Road Swing

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas – After recording a split in their 2021 home-opening two-game series, Lamar University now turns its focus to its first road trip of the season. The Cardinals (1-1) will be in Tuscaloosa, Ala., Friday evening to kick off a three-game stretch that will also include stops at Jackson State and Houston.

Big Red opened the season with a 3-1 victory over Grambling State, before running into a tough Oklahoma squad this past Sunday. Alabama (1-1) is looking to build off the momentum they gathered from a late season charge in 2020. The Tide posted a 7-8-2 (.471) overall record last season but closed the year strong with five wins in their final eight contests.

Saturday's game against the Crimson Tide will begin at 7 p.m. from Tuscaloosa. The game will also be televised on SEC PLUS.

The Cardinals will then be in Jackson, Miss., two days later to take on Jackson State. The Tigers enter the week with an 0-2 overall record after dropping season-opening games at McNeese and Jacksonville State. The Tigers were shutout in their first two games and are still looking for their first goal of the season, but Sunday will be their home opener. Jackson State will enter the game with fresh legs playing their first contest in seven days.

The contest against the Tigers will kick off at 1 p.m. It will be televised on the JSU Sports Network.

The game at Alabama will be the first of a stretch that will see the Cardinals on the road for seven of the next eight games.
