BEAUMONT, Texas – The Oklahoma Sooners scored a goal in the seventh minute of the game and never looked back defeating Lamar University, 4-0, Sunday evening at the LU Soccer Complex. Big Red finishes the season-opening two-game homestand with a 1-1 record.
After the game's opening goal, the Cardinals held Oklahoma scoreless for the next 29 minutes. OU got back on the scoreboard in the 36
th minute when Jasmine Richards netted her first goal of the season on a pass from Ella Pappas. The Sooners tacked on one more goal before halftime.
The lone second-half goal came off the foot of Bri Amos in the 67
th minute.
LU finished the night with seven shots, including one on goal, while the Sooners ended the game with 21 shots. Oklahoma was whistled for 15 fouls in the contest including three yellow cards.

Nicole Panis went the distance in goal recording eight saves.
Sunday's contest signaled the end of the Cardinals season-opening two-game homestand. The Cards now hit the road for three straight beginning Friday at Alabama. The game against the Crimson Tide will begin at 7 p.m. The three-game road swing will take the Cardinals from Tuscaloosa, Ala., to Jackson, Miss. (Jackson State) and closing things out at the University of Houston.
