BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University fell in doubleheader action to No. 16/17 Louisiana on Monday afternoon at the LU Softball Complex.
GAME 1 – Louisiana 18, Lamar 0 (5 Inn.)
The Ragin' Cajuns came out of the gates on fire as they tallied three multi-run innings to take a commanding win over the Cards. Louisiana got in the scoring column first in the first inning as Gortarez tallied the run after Rawls reached on a throwing error.
The Ragin' Cajuns extended their lead to 5-0 after the second inning that was backed by five hits before flying out to left field to end the top of the second. The next inning was dominated by Louisiana as they broke out for seven runs on four hits. The Ragin' Cajuns tallied one run in the fifth and held onto complete the game one victory over Lamar by a score of 18-0.
GAME 2 – Louisiana 10, Lamar 0 (5 Inn.)
The Cardinals kept the hot bats of Louisiana at bay to begin the first as senior
Shelby Mixon forced the three up three down situation on the Ragin' Cajuns in the first. The Cardinal offense went onto load the bases in the bottom of the frame, but ULL was able to track down two fly balls to end the inning. Louisiana tallied the first run of game two in the second inning on a single to right field by Heath that brought in Kean.
The hot bats of the Louisiana offense came out in the third as they tallied four runs on two hits in the third to take a 5-0 leading going into the fourth. The Ragin' Cajuns extended their lead in the fourth to 8-0. Louisiana held onto the lead going into the fifth and added two more runs in the inning before fanning the Cards to take the game two win, 10-0, over the Cards.
