BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University women's basketball program grew by one on Friday, April 23
rd for the 2021-22 season with the addition of NJ Weems, out of De La Salle High School in Minneapolis, Minn., announced head coach
Aqua Franklin.
NJ Weems – 6'1" – Forward – De La Salle HS (Minneapolis, Minn.) – Moberly Area CC
NJ Weems comes to Beaumont after a year in Moberly, Missouri at Moberly Area Community College where she played under Hana Haden. In her time in Moberly, she averaged 12.4 points per game and pulled in 5.6 rebounds a game while shooting 55.7 percent from the field, including 60 percent from beyond the arc.
Prior to her time at Moberly, Weems played high school ball at De La Salle in Minneapolis, Minnesota under coach Tanysna Scott. Weems helped led her high school to four state section championships and four state tournament appearances, capturing a state title in 2019. A 1,000-point club member at De La Salle, she was honored by being named All-Conference twice in her high school career.
