LAKE CHARLES, La. – The Lamar University softball program fell in game one of the McNeese series by a score of 7-2 on Friday night at the Cowgirl Diamond.
Junior
Aleka Xayaseng lead the way for the Cards on the evening as she went 3-for-4 from the plate and scored one run. Sophomore
Hannah Kinkade followed as she went 2-for-3 on the night and tallied a run scored.
Chloe Gomez led the way for the Cowgirls as she went 3-for-4 at the plate while tallying two runs scored. In five innings of work, Jenna Edwards gave up eight hits, but limited the Cards to just two runs in the contest.
The contest saw the Cowgirls go up 4-1 after the first inning. McNeese then found home again in the fourth, and never gave up the lead. The Cardinals tallied their first run of the game in the first inning off a single by
Kaylee Ancelot that brought in Xayaseng. In the fifth inning, the Cards went onto tally their second run of the evening.
