Volleyball Eyes Match Against Southeastern Louisiana

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas – After having nine days between matches, the Lamar University volleyball team is in the midst of one its most hectic stretches of the season. LU returns to action Tuesday to host Southeastern Louisiana. The match against the Lions will be No. 2 in a stretch that will see Big Red take the court three times in five days.

After picking up their first win of the season over Northwestern State, things have gotten tougher for the Red and White. The Cards (1-10/1-5 SLC) have dropped consecutive matches, but those matches have come against the second and third-place teams in the league.

Southeastern Louisiana is 5-3 on the season and currently seventh in the Southland with a 3-2 league record. The Lions are currently seventh in the league race as we enter the final month of the regular season. Southeastern has had an up and down year in 2021. They started the year hot winning their first two matches (over Tulane and Southern Miss) before dropping three of the next four. Since that time, SLU has bounced back with consecutive wins over Northwestern State (3-1) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (3-2).

The Cardinals are 29-10 (.744) in the series with Southeastern, including a 16-3 (.842) record in Beaumont. The two teams have split the previous four meetings, but LU has won four of the last six, including a 3-2 decision in Beaumont in 2019.

Tuesday's contest will be one of just three remaining home matches in 2021. It will begin at 6:30 p.m. from the Montagne Center. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+.
