COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Lamar University softball program fell in five innings to Texas A&M on the final day of the Reveille Classic by a score of 13-3 at the Davis Diamond.
The Aggies got to work early and put up the first run of the game on a home run to left to take a 1-0 lead over the Cardinals. The Cardinals were able to get one on the top of the second on an error by the Aggie first baseman, but it was not enough as Texas A&M got out of the inning. The Aggies went on to score three runs on two hits in the bottom of the frame.
Texas A&M added to their total with one run in the third, and then extended their lead to 9-0 over the Cardinals in the fourth. LU was able to close the gap in the fifth on a three-run shot to left field by
Kaylee Ancelot, but that was not enough as the Aggies loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning and sealed the victory on a walk-off grand slam to capture a 13-3 win over the Cardinals.
UP NEXT: The Cardinals will open Southland Conference play as they will travel to Hammond, La. to take on Southeastern Louisiana in a three-game series with a doubleheader on Friday, March 12
th then close out the series with a single game on Saturday, March 13
th.
